WestSide operates the Meridian SeamGas CSG fields west of Gladstone in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. The Meridian SeamGas fields produce approximately 4 Petajoules of gas per year. WestSide holds a 51% interest in the fields with Mitsui E&P Australia Pty Ltd holding the remaining 49%.
Elsewhere in the Bowen Basin, WestSide is currently operating an exploration and appraisal program at the ATP 769P (Paranui) and ATP 688P (Tilbrook, Mount Saint Martin and Bald Hill) sites. WestSide holds a 50% interest in each area with QGC holding the other 50% in each case.
WestSide’s 50 per cent share of certified Proved, Probable and Possible (3P) gas reserves in the pilot areas amounts to 211 Petajoules (PJ), with potentially another 1,600 billion cubic feet of gas in place in the tenements.
WestSide’s operations to date have addressed only a small proportion of the 12,000 km2 covered by these tenements.
WestSide is currently in the process of acquiring two exploration tenements in Queensland's Galilee Basin. These new tenements will cover over 14,000 km2, and could contain as much as 21 trillion cubic feet of gas in place. Exploration is expected to commence in 2010 once the permits have been issued and the acquisition completed.
The Company also has rights to assess the CSG potential of several coal deposits in Indonesia through its relationship with PT Bumi Resources TBK, one of Indonesia’s largest coal miners.
